Creating and Operating a Family Assistance Center - A Toolkit for Public Health

Secondary Services

In addition to the primary FAC services described above, there are a number of other services that may be needed, depending on the nature of the incident and the needs of family members.  Some of the more common “secondary” services that may be provided include:

  • Assistance with after-death-related paperwork (e.g. funeral services, obtaining death certificates, or dealing with Social Security or life insurance benefits).
  • Assistance with housing or financial resources.
  • Access to crime victim assistance services.
  • Assistance with clothing, toiletries, or other basic needs.
